The Guyana Cinnabon Experience
Cinnabon opened in Guyana on May 10, 2023 without the fanfare that unfolded when another similar American franchise was launched a few weeks earlier. Founded in 1985, Cinnabon positions itself as the 'market leader among cinnamon roll bakeries'.
The American bakery franchise is located just outside of Georgetown at the Giftland Mall on the East Coast of Demerara.
The signature cinnamon rolls and other baked treats and beverages offered by Cinnabon now stands beside a slew of other local cafes in the mall's food court competing to satisfy people's sweet tooth.
Products
The company's signature item is the cinnamon roll. It comes in various sizes and flavours including Cinnabon, Chocobon and Caramel Pecanbon.
Chillattas, their frozen blended beverages come in a variety of flavors including Cinnamon Roll, Strawberry, Mango, Caramel Latte, Chocolate Mocha and Cookies & Cream.
Caffeine junkies can get their pick of hot or cold coffee beverages. Espresso, Cortadito, Americano, Cappuccion and Caramel Latte are just a few of the choices.
My Take
A trip to Cinnabon is yet another novelty experience for Guyanese. It's not a place to visit often if you are mindful of your sugar intake.
Black coffee pairs nicely with a cinnamon roll, but I tried the Cinnamon Roll Chillata which I never haf before. It literally felt as though I was drinking my Cinnamon Roll instead of eating it. Both the Chillata and the Cinnamon Roll were delectable, but I recommend consuming these in the morning so that you have the rest of the day to burn off all the calories.
In between my visits to Cinnabon, I will settle for sipping on my home-brewed cinnamon flavoured coffee.
